Let’s Be Cops Gets A Second Red Band Trailer

Admittedly, Let's Be Cops is a very tough film to gauge probable success or failure off of from its trailers hitherto, which is probably why we've been given yet another one. On one hand, it's abundantly clear that our leads, Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr, have excellent comedic chemistry together - which can definitely be attributed to the fact that they are no stranger to working with each other - but on the other hand, it also comes across as a poor man's 21 Jump Street.

Admittedly, Let’s Be Cops is a very tough film to gauge probable success or failure off of from its trailers hitherto, which is probably why we’ve been given yet another one. On one hand, it’s abundantly clear that our leads, Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr, have excellent comedic chemistry together – which can definitely be attributed to the fact that they are no stranger to working with each other – but on the other hand, it also comes across as a poor man’s 21 Jump Street.

Let’s not fool ourselves, at its core it’s another movie about incompetent buffoons holding a job they’re not mentally or physically equipped to act out. Realistically, it doesn’t matter that the characters here aren’t actually cops, because anyone interested in seeing the movie is interested for the same reasons they went and saw a movie like 21 Jump Street.

Not helping the situation is the fact that the favorably reviewed 22 Jump Street will have only been released for two months by the time this movie comes out. These extenuating circumstances put Let’s Be Cops in an unfortunate predicament where even if it is a genuinely funny movie, it’s probably going to be living in a shadow of a superior franchise.

Still, you can’t ignore that co-star chemistry which once again pops out in the latest red band trailer for the film. Check it out below and let us know what you think.

Let’s Be Cops will be dispatched into theaters on August 13th.
