Marvel Considering Another Solo Hulk Movie, Says Mark Ruffalo

Ever since Mark Ruffalo appeared as the Hulk in Joss Whedon's The Avengers, fans have been begging Marvel for another solo outing featuring the giant green monster. The studio's first two attempts at a standalone Hulk film didn't do as well as they had hoped, so it's understandable why they'd be hesitant to dive in again. Still, fans loved Ruffalo's take on the character and the Hulk's popularity is now at an all-time high.

Ever since Mark Ruffalo appeared as the Hulk in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, fans have been begging Marvel for another solo outing featuring the giant green monster. The studio’s first two attempts at a standalone Hulk film didn’t do as well as they had hoped, so it’s understandable why they’d be hesitant to dive in again. Still, fans loved Ruffalo’s take on the character and his popularity is now at an all-time high.

While Marvel has stated in the past that they had no immediate plans for another Hulk film, it looks like they may be changing their mind. In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Ruffalo said that the studio is “entertaining the idea,” which is a start, I guess:

“I think they are, for the first time, entertaining the idea of it. When we did ‘The Avengers’ it was basically ‘No!’, and now there is some consideration for it,” Ruffalo said. “But there’s still nothing definitive, not even a skeletal version of what it would be. I look forward to going down that road, if we could crack that nut.”

So, it definitely looks like Marvel is interested, but is this really the best move for them? Sure, the fans definitely want it, but it’s important to remember that the Hulk’s best-received outing was in The Avengers, where he really was just more of a supporting player. When he’s the main focus of the story, like in Hulk and The Incredible Hulk, the results aren’t so great.

Still, I think this could work out, especially with Ruffalo leading the way. There are a ton of great Hulk storylines that they can draw from and I’m sure that audiences would be willing to give another solo outing a fair shot, right?

What do you think? Would another standalone Hulk movie work? Is that something that Marvel should be pursuing? Sound off below!
