Keeping up the game’s momentum from its grand debut at E3 last week, Ubisoft has unveiled the appearance of Far Cry 4’s protagonist, Ajay Ghale.

The image, which initially appeared on the series’ Facebook page, provides us with an early, portrait-like glimpse at our lead character, who has been described as “Kyrat’s native, devoted son and Pagan Min’s guest of honor.”

While revealing the appearance of the playable character within a first-person game ahead of time may seem wholly redundant, providing us with a glimpse of Ghale gives us an inkling of the Himalyan-set story. For one, it’s understood that Far Cry 4’s lead is returning to the fictional setting of Kyrat at the beginning of the game, when he encounters the aforementioned, villainous Pagan Min.

Jumping the moral line between good and evil, though, Min — voiced by the omnipresent Troy Baker — will serve as the self-appointed antagonist of Far Cry 4 and all-round terrorist to the Ghale’s native region. Judging by his narcissistic debut in the latest gameplay trailer, Pagan Min looks set to be a much darker villain than Vaas from the previous game.

Speaking of which, it’s understood that Ubisoft aim to avoid the white saviour trope with Far Cry 4, following complaints levelled towards the character of Jason Brody in its predecessor.

Far Cry 4 is due to launch across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on November 18th, 2014, and for more on the game ahead of your visits to Kyrat, you can check out our hands-on impressions.
