DrinkBox Studios is looking to partner sun and humidity with singlets and Mexican wrestling, when it unleashes Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition onto Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Wii U early next month.

After making his singlet-covered debut on Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PS Vita platforms back in April of last year, Guacamelee! has slowly worked his way towards a broader audience with his extended Super Turbo Championship Edition port. Now, it’s less than a month away from bringing its improvements and enhancements — plus an extended campaign — to all three next-gen consoles, as well as Microsoft’s venerable Xbox 360.

Read on for a full list of this new version’s added features:

  • Expanded Story – An expanded version of the game that includes new content and all DLC from the original
  • New Game Areas – Players will ride boats through the Canal of Flowers to save a besieged fishing town, and avoid lava as they climb through the fiery Volcano
  • New Boss – Face off against the deadly Trio of Death, a three-headed skeleton that lives in the Volcano, who helps the evil Carlos Calaca build his skeleton armies
  • New Abilities – Maximize destruction with the powerful new INTENSO combat mode and dish out scrambled pain with powerful Chicken Bombs. Plus, swap dimensions independently in co-op play using the new Shadow Swap ability.
  • New Enemies – Lethal new elite-class enemies that want to chokeslam luchadores to sleep
  • Support for multiple save slots
  • Dual currency system that supports permanent item unlocks

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition will slam onto North American PlayStation 4 consoles on July 1st, before hitting both Microsoft platforms and Nintendo’s Wii U the very next day. Look for it then, and expect to pay $14.99 if you wish to add it to your digital collection.

Super Turbo Championship Edition is scheduled to launch on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system on July 1st (North America only; available in Europe July 2nd), on Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft July 2nd, as well as on the Wii U™ system from Nintendo July 2nd, at an SRP of $14.99 for North America and £11.99 / €13.99 for Europe.
