Assassin’s Creed Unity To Simultaneously Launch On PC And Consoles; Will Also Receive Season Pass

Despite past troubles, Ubisoft is confident that Assassin's Creed Unity will hit PC alongside PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year. This is definitely reassuring news, as the last two entries in the franchise, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed 3, both missed their PC releases when they launched in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

Despite past troubles, Ubisoft is confident that Assassin’s Creed Unity will hit PC alongside PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year. This is definitely reassuring news, as the last two entries in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed 3, both missed their PC releases when they launched in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

Speaking to Rock Paper Shotgun, Assassin’s Creed Unity producer Lesley Phord-Toy explained that the company is hoping to have a simultaneous launch for the game.

“We’re always aiming to ship all our games on all platforms at the same time. I don’t have any specific news on the PC version of Assassin’s Creed Unity, but I do know we’re planning on shipping on all three [platforms]: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. I haven’t heard any news differently than that.”

Phord-Toy also opened up about the challenges that come with developing a title for PC versus developing it for a console.

“It can be challenging. PC has a variety of different hardware configurations that you can’t necessarily predict. On a console you know what’s in the box. Every customer has the same configuration for the most part, and first-parties push firmware updates so everyone has what you’re expecting to have. PCs are nowhere near as consistent. So it can be extremely challenging to try and support as many of those permutations as possible.”

In other Assassin’s Creed Unity news, a flyer released by retailer GameStop revealed that not only will the title receive pre-order bonuses from the store, but that a Season Pass will also be released.

According to the flyer, by pre-ordering Unity from GameStop, you’ll be entitled to enter the ‘Spin to Win’ game, which will reward winners with various prizes every Friday leading up the title’s launch. Pre-ordering Assassin’s Creed Unity from the retailer will also give gamers the Chemical Revolution mission and the razor head spear weapon.

Details regarding the game’s Season Pass have not been revealed as of yet, but we do know that it will cost fans an additional $29.99 to get the full Unity experience. That’s a decent chunk of change, so here’s hoping that Ubisoft is working on some spectacular DLC.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is expected to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on October 28th.
