Fox Still Wants Bryan Singer To Direct X-Men: Apocalypse

Before X-Men: Days of Future Past even hit theaters, 20th Century Fox signed Bryan Singer on to direct its sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse. However, after Singer's shocking legal battle following a sexual abuse accusation, rumor spread that the studio would drop him from the film and move ahead with someone else at the helm.

Before X-Men: Days of Future Past even hit theaters, 20th Century Fox signed Bryan Singer on to direct its sequel, X-Men: ApocalypseHowever, after Singer’s shocking legal battle following a sexual abuse accusation, rumor spread that the studio would drop him from the film and move ahead with someone else at the helm.

Well, worry not X-Men fans, because according to Fox president Emma Watts, they still intend to have Singer on board to direct. In an interview with THR, she said the following:

“Right now we are totally at the outlining phase, but nothing would make me happier than if it all worked out. It’s always been the intention for him to do it.”

She went onto add that she feels that “the management of the franchise” was part of Days of Future Past‘s success, and explained that “a big part of it was getting Bryan back.”

Watt’s comments are certainly not official confirmation that he’ll return, but it is a good sign for those of us who’d like to see him back for another installment of the franchise. The two parties may still be working out some issues, but it’s definitely refreshing to hear that the studio is willing to bring him back.

With or without Bryan Singer, X-Men: Apocalypse will hit theaters on May 27th, 2016. As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
