Variety is reporting that BBC Worldwide Production France is looking to produce a one-hour long documentary on iconic music duo Daft Punk. After releasing their fourth studio album, titled Random Access Memories, last May to huge success and praise, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter (the two musicians who make up the group) are hotter than ever.

The plan is to air the doc through French TV channel Canal Plus next year, with director Hervé Martin Delpierre on board to helm. Charting the group’s rise to fame through the 90s and right up until the present day, the documentary will explore how Daft Punk changed dance music forever and became as influential and iconic as they are today.

With twelve million albums sold worldwide and six Grammy Awards under their belt, it’s hard to deny the massive influence that the duo has had on the dance/EDM scene. If executed properly, this documentary could be an exhilarating and fascinating look into one of the most exciting musical acts currently around. Plus, I would imagine that Homem-Christo and Bangalter will be involved in some capacity as well, and I’m definitely looking forward to hearing their insight and thoughts about all their success.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted as more news on the doc rolls in. In the meantime, though, tell us, are you looking forward to the Daft Punk documentary? Sound off below!
