Coming in at a whopping 440 feet wide and 80 feet tall, EDC Las Vegas‘ Kinetic Cathedral has officially set the record for being the largest stage ever assembled in North America. Previously, the record was held by U2’s 360 tour stage, which was a pretty impressive piece of work. However, even that looks small when compared to the Kinetic Cathedral, which boasted 28 LED displays, 1,000 light fixtures and 30 lasers, using 2.5 million watts to power it all.
To put this into perspective, Insomniac’s stage doubled the size of U2’s and is about six times larger than the stage that Pink Floyd used for their Wall tour. Furthermore, at 80 feet tall and 440 feet wide, the Kinetic Cathedral stage is as high as a 7-floor building and 27 yards longer than an NFL football field.
While it’s incredible that Insomniac pulled off such a massive achievement, it does leave them with one little problem: how will they top it for next year? If they’ve already build the largest stage that’s ever been assembled in North America, will they have to go bigger for next year’s Electric Daisy Carnival? Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely not complaining here. I love a good stage just as much as the next concert-goer does, but how can they possibly get any bigger than the Kinetic Cathedral? Only time will tell, I suppose.
