Marvel’s upcoming superhero tentpole Ant-Man, which Yes Man director Peyton Reed has stepped in to helm following the controversial exit of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World filmmaker Edgar Wright, just gained David Dastmalchian in an unspecified role.

The actor had memorable but small parts in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight (as a glowering henchman of the Joker) and Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners (as a deranged suspect in the kidnapping of two young girls). His role in Marvel’s flick is being kept under wraps, but Dastmalchian seems like a good fit for a villainous part.

Ant-Man will see Paul Rudd star as Scott Lang, a thief and single dad who breaks into the apartment of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and discovers the Ant-Man suit. Together, they plan to thwart a villain’s plot by planning a heist with global ramifications. Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Michael Peña, Patrick Wilson and Matt Gerald all co-star in the film, which Marvel still has slotted for release on July 17th, 2015.

“Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”
