A little over a week ago, we provided you with the very first trailer for the upcoming World War II movie, Fury. And if that whet your appetite for all things tank warfare, then rest assured we have just the thing – a set of behind the scenes stills. The pictures, which can be seen below, depict End of Watch and Fury helmer David Ayer alongside leading man Brad Pitt, as well as production images of several members of the cast, including up-and-comer Logan Lerman, Michael Pena and Shia LaBeouf.

Taking place in the final weeks of World War II, Fury follows Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) as he leads his small platoon of soldiers into a particularly dangerous mission behind enemy lines. And from these first few glimpses, I can’t help but get a similar feeling to that which fuels my affection for the war-drama classic, Saving Private Ryan.

The images and trailer do seem impeccably shot, and both films concern a band of brothers deep in hostile territory. Count the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers in this bracket also, and Fury seems to have a lot to live up to. However, if Training Day and End of Watch are anything to go by, David Ayer sure does know how to make a visceral piece of cinema, driven by characters as much as action.

Columbia Pictures seemingly have a lot of faith in Fury, slating it for a November 14 release date – deep in Oscar territory. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if the film garners a handful of nominations purely based on its placement in the award season calendar.
