Even though we’re still a while off from the North American release of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX (it was recently confirmed for December 2), Square Enix seems eager to show off the spiffy new high-definition coat of paint that the two playable titles within the compilation will sport in their jump to the PlayStation 3.

The collection of clips shows several cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. The Kingdom Hearts II portion focuses on protagonists Sora, Donald Duck, and Goofy visiting Christmas Town from The Nightmare Before Christmas, while the Birth by Sleep portion showcases Aqua, one of the game’s three playable characters, protecting a child who may look familiar to fans of the series from enemy drones before Mickey Mouse shows up to aid in battle.

Until this point, Kingdom Hearts II was only available on the PlayStation 2, and Birth by Sleep was a PSP exclusive. The video shows the improvements that the PS3’s capabilities will bring to the older titles, sporting much smoother models, brighter colors, and even some new costumes for our heroes in Christmas Town, with Donald sporting a snowman look that would look right at home in the likes of Frozen. While the first few minutes automatically switch back and forth between the SD originals and the HD ReMIX, you can click the HD, SD, and Compare icons within the video to automatically jump to the same point of the clip in either resolution or the comparison.

We will continue to keep you updated on the Kingdom Hearts franchise as more news drops. Until then, though, check out the video below and leave your thoughts in the comments section.
