Glee Film Coming With Original Cast And In 3D

Fox is planning to bring us GLEE LIVE! 3D!, a feature film starring the cast of their hit TV show Glee. Deadline tells us that the film is based on the Glee Live! In Concert! North American tour. Starting on August 12th, the film will play for a limited 2 week run. Fame director Kevin Tancharoen will helm the project and it will give fans a chance to see the concert in 3D as well as some behind the scenes footage. As Deadline points out, this concept worked with Michael Jackson's This Is It and Justin Bieber's Never Say Never, so it seems like an obvious decision for the studio. The show has a huge following and the film will bring in a healthy amount of cash for Fox. Legions of Gleeks will surely swarm to the theatres on opening day. Don't you think?

I personally have no interest in seeing this although I will admit, the kids on the show are quite talented. The show itself isn’t anything special and I think most people tune in just for the singing and dancing. Seeing as the film is essentially just a concert, it will likely attract a large number of people and is probably a good move for Fox.
