This may not come as a shock to anyone, but according to Deadline, Warner Brothers wants Academy Award winning screenwriter Chris Terrio, who rewrote Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, to pen Justice League

Terrio jumped on board Batman V Superman shortly after Ben Affleck was cast and rewrote David Goyer’s original draft of the script. He apparently “absolutely crushed” that rewrite, prompting the studio to court him into returning. There’s no mention of how far into negotiations he and the studio are, but with Zack Snyder already confirmed to direct, and Justice League the “highest priority” for new studio managers Greg Silverman and Sue Kroll, we should expect an official announcement soon.

We all kind of expected Terrio to return for Justice League, but this is still great news. He won an Academy Award for his Argo script  and his involvement in that film is what made Ben Affleck suggest he come on board for BVS. Warner Brothers’ plan to jump right into their big superhero team up film before introducing characters through solo origin stories is a risky one, so hiring someone like Terrio is a smart move, especially with both BVS and Justice League expected to film back-to-back.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League lacks an official release date, but is rumored to arrive in May 2017. Snyder’s next film, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, is filming now and hits theaters on May 6th, 2016. Both films are expected to have a presence during WB’s Hall H panel tomorrow morning at San Diego Comic-Con, so stay tuned to We Got This Covered for more updates.
