Tense New Images From Hitman: Agent 47 Highlight Rupert Friend, Zachary Quinto And Hannah Ware

Comic-Con came and went, and one of the less buzzy films highlighted there was 20th Century Fox's upcoming Hitman: Agent 47, which finds Rupert Friend, of Showtime's Homeland, stepping into the title role of a nameless assassin. The trailer screened in San Diego hasn't yet found its way online, though we did see two action-packed images featuring Friend and co-star Hannah Ware (Shame) hit the web a few days back.

Comic-Con came and went, and one of the less buzzy films highlighted there was 20th Century Fox’s upcoming Hitman: Agent 47, which finds Rupert Friend, of Showtime’s Homeland, stepping into the title role of a nameless assassin. The trailer screened in San Diego hasn’t yet found its way online, though we did see two action-packed images featuring Friend and co-star Hannah Ware (Shame) hit the web a few days back.

Now, as we wait for the trailer release, some more shots from Hitman: Agent 47 have arrived, revealing the appearance of Zachary Quinto (Star Trek Into Darkness), who plays the bad guy of the film. We don’t know too much about the plot of this video game adaptation, though it’s a safe bet that Agent 47 and Quinto’s baddie trade blows and bullets over Ware’s mysterious Katia van Dees.

Thomas Kretschmann, who is playing Baron von Strucker in Avengers: Age of Ultron next year, has a supporting role as another nefarious killer Agent 47 faces off against. Also co-starring are Dan Bakkedahl, Ciarán Hinds and Emilio Rivera. Though the cast seems solid enough, it’s unclear whether the talent behind the camera will be enough to propel Hitman: Agent 47 above other terrible video game adaptations.

Commercials director Aleksander Bach is making his directorial debut, working from a screenplay by Skip Woods (A Good Day to Die Hard), Mike Finch (Predators) and Kyle Ward (Machete Kills). That’s an intriguing trio of writers, but will their combined experience be enough to give this action-thriller a soul of its own? We’ll find out when Hitman: Agent 47 arrives in theaters on February 27th next year.

Based on the top-selling, award-winning videogame franchise, “Hitman: Agent 47” is an all-new motion picture about an elite and genetically engineered assassin, known only by the last two digits – 47 – of a barcode tattooed on the back of his neck.
