If you weren’t already convinced that Homeland actor Rupert Friend looked the part of the bald, unnamed assassin at the heart of upcoming video game adaptation Hitman: Agent 47, here’s a new pic (below) that directly compares the actor to his computer-generated counterpart. Thoughts?
Friend definitely looks drastically different from how he did as a different assassin, CIA operative Peter Quinn, on Homeland, but no actual footage has slipped out of Comic-Con yet from the film, so it would be wise to reserve judgment for a while.
On paper, Hitman: Agent 47 does seem like it could be an entertaining, undemanding actioner. It’s adapted from a popular video game franchise, centers on a genetically engineered assassin taking on a dangerous mission and co-stars Hannah Ware, Zachary Quinto, Thomas Kretschmann and Ciaran Hinds. So long as the movie doesn’t fall prey to the video game adaptation trope of convoluted, dunder-headed storytelling, that cast and premise should render it a fine way to waste a couple of few hours next year.
Aleksander Bach is making his directorial debut on Hitman: Agent 47, which was scripted by Michael Finch, Kyle Ward and Skip Woods. It’s due to open in theaters on February 27th, 2015.
