The Guest Arrives With Thrilling New Trailer

Gruesomely satisfying horror-thriller You're Next put director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett on our watchlist, though the work that the pair did on V/H/S and A Horrible Way to Die really should have brought them to our attention earlier. Nevertheless, the duo delivered a fantastic entry on the home invasion subgenre with You're Next, and now they're set to return with The Guest, which delves more into the thriller genre while still supplying the style that we've come to expect from the pair.

Gruesomely satisfying horror-thriller You’re Next put director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett on our watchlist, though the work that the pair did on V/H/S and A Horrible Way to Die really should have brought them to our attention earlier. Nevertheless, the duo delivered a fantastic entry on the home invasion subgenre with You’re Next, and now they’re set to return with The Guest, which delves more into the thriller genre by going back to the pulpy B-movie actioners of yesteryear while still supplying the overload of style that we’ve come to expect from the pair.

A new trailer has arrived for the film today, giving us a better look at the action and intrigue on display in The Guest. Though it doesn’t quite communicate the reportedly awesome and distinctive style of the movie, it does provide some exciting teases as to The Guest‘s content. The film previously premiered at Sundance, where our reviewer Dominic Mill found himself quite enamored, awarding it four stars and calling it “an absolute blast from beginning to end.”

Picturehouse will finally be sending The Guest to theaters on September 17th. With a cast including Dan Stevens, Maika Monroe, Leland Orser, Sheila Kelley, Brendan Meyer, and Lance Reddick, on top of Wingard and Barrett working behind the camera, it’s one that we’ll definitely be queuing up to see.

A soldier (Dan Stevens) introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action. After the young man is welcomed into their home, a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence.
