Ryan Gosling And Derek Cianfrance To Team With Bradley Cooper In Pines

I am a huge fan of Ryan Gosling. The fact the he was not nominated for an Oscar this year for his incredible performance in Blue Valentine, which I personally thought far outshined Michelle Williams’, still shocks me. But it looks like he’ll be reteaming with Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance for the father-son crime drama, The Place Beyond the Pines.

Sidney Kimmel Entertainment has picked up the project that will star Gosling as a pro motorcycle rider who robs banks to support his newborn son. Things get complicated, though, as a young cop becomes hot on his trail. The role of the young cop, Variety is reporting, has been offered to one of today’s hottest rising stars, Bradley Cooper. The film was co-written by Cianfrance with Ben Coccio and begins principal photography this summer.

Sounds like a great project and I can only imagine the results that Cooper and Gosling would produce if they were to star on screen together, especially in these roles. It will be interesting to see who rounds out the supporting roles but with both Gosling and Cooper attached, you can be sure that they won’t have any trouble filling out the rest of the parts with solid talent.
