The casting for HBO’s sci-fi drama pilot, Westworld, continues to move ahead at full steam today, with news that we can now add good ol’ Cyclops to the list, as actor James Marsden has hopped on board.
Just a mere 24 hours after the J.J. Abrams-produced TV adaptation of the 1973 Michael Crichton film announced that a bevy of actors had joined the cast, including Boardwalk Empire‘s Jeffery Wright, it is now known that Marsden will help round out the line-up. The actor will be playing Teddy Flood, a mysterious wanderer with a penchant for guns and gals who’ll find himself on a journey of dark and epic proportions.
HBO is doing a fantastic job of setting up this TV pilot for success with its talented and diversified cast. Jeffery Wright is a veteran character actor who opened the eyes of Hollywood with his scintillating turn as Peoples Hernandez in the otherwise forgettable Shaft (2000) remake. Rodrigo Santoro, who started his career on Brazilian TV, has already proven that he can hold his own against Hollywood heavyweights in films like 300, Redbelt and Che. Previously announced lead Evan Rachel Wood, at only 26 years old, has already been nominated for two Golden Globes. And then there is Sir Anthony Hopkins, who needs no introduction.
Behind the impressive talent lineup is Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight, Person of Interest), who will be handling both writing and directing duties on the pilot. J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub and Bryan Burk will serve as executive producers on Westworld.
