Fresh off a successful cardboard box demonstration, Konami announced today that both Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be coming to the PC. While no release date for the titles was given, series mastermind Hideo Kojima has revealed that both entries will be released through Steam.

Although the franchise is no stranger to PCs, as both the original Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty were ported over, these releases mark the first time the series will be available through through Steam. The Platinum Games-developed spinoff, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, was released on Steam earlier this year.

One would probably expect that The Phantom Pain port will be released alongside its console brethren in 2015, but with how long previous ports took to come over, who knows for sure. At the very least, both Metal Gear Solid V titles should be released at the same time, considering the fact that Ground Zeroes was released back in March.

While I don’t have the PC to (presumably) run these titles, I imagine that this news will make select gamers quite pleased. Besides opening the games up for modification, these ports will likely be on par with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One graphically, if not better.

We will continue to have more information on these ports of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes when Konami is ready to talk, so stay tuned.
