It appears that Capcom has more than one new Resident Evil title up their sleeves, as a leaked listing on Xbox.com may have spoiled the existence of Resident Evil: Revelations 2.
As first noticed by French gaming website Gamer In A Box, a single screenshot and box art for Biohazard Revelations 2, which is what the title is known as in Japan, was posted on Xbox.com. While Capcom has yet to officially comment on the matter, the company has stated in the past that they were pleased with the original Revelations sales performance.
Originally released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012, Resident Evil: Revelations was a more traditional take on the classic franchise. Rather than focus on the big-budget set-pieces that filled Resident Evil 6, Revelations was focused more on exploration and puzzle-solving. Taking place in the middle of Resident Evil 4 and 5, the plot focused mainly on series mainstays, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine. A high-definition version of the title was later ported to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Nintendo Wii U in 2013.
As someone who misses the more traditional survival horror gameplay of the series, Resident Evil: Revelations was a pleasant surprise when it first came out. This time, with development most likely being geared specifically towards home consoles and not handhelds, I’m expecting a much more robust experience. That is, if Revelations 2 actually exists, but at this point, I would be shocked if it didn’t.
