Guy Ritchie Wants Charlie Hunnam For King Arthur

With Sons of Anarchy heading into its seventh and final season this year, it's time for the show's star, Charlie Hunnam, to make the move to film. He already proved in last year's Pacific Rim that he's capable of leading a massive blockbuster, so it's no surprise that Warner Bros. wants him back. Only this time, it's to star in Guy Ritchie's King Arthur, which is supposed to be a franchise starter that will spawn at least five more entries.

With Sons of Anarchy heading into its seventh and final season this year, it’s time for the show’s star, Charlie Hunnam, to make the move to film. He already proved in last year’s Pacific Rim that he’s capable of leading a massive blockbuster, so it’s no surprise that Warner Bros. wants him back. Only this time, it’s to star in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur, which is supposed to be a franchise starter that will spawn at least five more entries.

The actor is currently in final negotiations for the film and given that he’s Ritchie’s first choice for the titular role, and pretty in demand at the moment, I imagine that this will all work out. There’s also mention in the report of a possible Pacific Rim reunion, as Idris Elba is circling the role of Merlin. The good news doesn’t end there, either, as Variety says that Elizabeth Olsen is being eyed for the female lead. However, neither of those actors are confirmed just yet and the only one who is close to signing on is Hunnam.

It’s great to see that this project is finally shaping up. The studio has been trying to get a King Arthur film off the ground for years now and hasn’t had much luck. Everything seems to be heading in the right direction now though and I’m excited to hear that we’ll finally be getting a chance to see this ambitious project come to fruition in the near future. Especially since Warner Bros. is putting together such a strong group of talent.

Personally, I’ve always been a big fan of Hunnam and have been eager to see him do more work on the big screen for a while now. I thought he was excellent in Pacific Rim and am 100% on board with him being the face of Warner Bros.’ King Arthur. If anyone deserves to be leading an exciting new franchise, it’s him.

Tell us, are happy to see Charlie Hunnam taking the titular role in King Arthur? Sound off below!
