It looks like everything is starting to fall into place for the sophomore outing of HBO’s hit series True Detective. Deadline is reporting today that Justin Lin is in talks to direct at least two episodes of the upcoming season. There’s no confirmation from the network on the news just yet, but it’s definitely an interesting prospect.

Lin has been very much in demand ever since giving The Fast and The Furious franchise new life and has been courted for many high profile projects over the last year or two. Hopping on board True Detective for a few episodes certainly wouldn’t be a bad decision for the talented director, especially since I think that he would be a pretty good fit for the show. It’s a shame that season one director Cary Fukunaga won’t be returning, but I definitely think that Lin would be a suitable replacement.

Though no one has been officially confirmed for the cast yet, Colin Ferrell, Taylor Kitsch, Vince Vaughn and Elisabeth Moss (though apparently Rachel McAdams is also being eyed for the same role) have all been heavily rumored and are all expected to be involved. Details on the plot are also hazy at best, but from what we’re hearing, season two is set in California and will revolve around a “corrupt city manager who gets murdered amidst a potential groundbreaking transportation deal.”

That’s all we know for now, but things are definitely coming together quickly on this one and I would expect official confirmations on all of the above mentioned info in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
