Scope Out First Pic Of Kristen Wiig As A Surrogate Mom In Nasty Baby

Kristen Wiig's next project, Nasty Baby, sounds like a comedy. The premise centres around Wiig's character Polly, and her two best friends, gay couple Freddy and Mo. When the pair are keen to start a family, Polly offers herself up as the vessel for their offspring. When Freddy's sperm fails to get Polly pregnant, there's an emotional upheaval for all three of them. Which involves a weirdo neighbour called The Bishop. A baby-making comedy akin to The Switch, perhaps?

Well, who knows, but we’d put on bets on it fitting squarely into the oddball drama category. From director Sebastian Silva it’s doubtful that a kook-load of shenanigans won’t occur at some point. The Chilean filmmaker has had considerable success with his Michael Cera double-whammy, Crystal Fairy and Magic, Magic. Neither of which were straight up laugh-fests, each deviating into more eccentric tonal shifts.

Nasty Baby is in post-production and so far, no U.S. release has been set. Stay tuned though for more on this one and check out the plot summary below.

NASTY BABY centers around a Brooklyn couple, Freddy and his boyfriend Mo, who are trying to have a baby with the help of their best friend, Polly. Freddy is an artist, and his latest work is all about babies – it’s clear he’s dying to be a father. Polly is a family practitioner who is more interested in having a baby than having a man. Mo is hesitant about the entire idea, especially when Polly isn’t having success with Freddy’s sperm and the donor responsibility shifts to him. Set almost entirely in the multicultural vibrancy of Fort Greene, Brooklyn, the trio navigate the idea of creating life, when they are confronted by unexpected harassment from particularly aggressive neighborhood man, nicknamed The Bishop. The Bishop is bothersome in small, yet persistent ways, with a hint of danger. As their clashes become increasingly aggressive, someone is bound to get hurt.
