According to figures published by retail analyst Chart-Track, EA’s long-awaited The Sims 4 has moved in and made itself at home in the UK’s all-format charts, with the studio’s latest release entering at number one.
In fact, the latest entry into the long-running and indeed beloved life simulating series is EA’s fourth number one of 2014 and is the first PC-only chart topper in over two years — a title previously held by Guild Wars 2 when it was released back in 2012.

Perhaps what’s most impressive about The Sims 4’s eye-catching debut is that fact that these figures only factor in physical sales, meaning that sales across digital platforms such as Origin aren’t taken into consideration.
Elsewhere, it was largely business as usual in this week’s chart, with 4A Games’ revamped and former number one Metro Redux slipping down to third. In fact, Watch Dogs witnessed a valiant resurgence in the last seven days, climbing from ninth to second thanks to limited price promotion in the country.
In terms of new entries, left-field Vita exclusive Danganrompa 2: Goodbye Despair entered at 29th — a full thirteen places higher than its well-received predecessor — while Koei’s mash-up title Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate ranked at 34th.
While it’s a remarkable feat for The Sims 4 to perform so while on its first week through physical sales alone, given the imminent and much-touted release of Destiny, it would seem EA’s sequel is merely keeping the proverbial throne nice and toasty for Bungie’s new kid on the block.
