Few film-related tidbits split an audience in the manner of the recently announced all-female Ghostbuters reboot. Undoubtedly, the news divided the fan base to such a point that it seemed as though the purported project piqued the interest of hopeful fans longing for another supernatural iteration all the while igniting a vehement Internet backlash.

Well, it seems as though series stalwart Bill Murray is very much in support of the concept, after the actor spoke to Access Hollywood during the Toronto Film Festival over the weekend.

“It sounds great to me. It sounds as good an idea as any other! There are a lot of women that could scare off any kind of vapor! No, it’s a grand idea, I don’t know who they’re talking about, but it’s a good idea, I would watch it! I mean, I love Robert Palmer’s videos, so why wouldn’t I love the female Ghostbusters?”

In fact, Murray even went so far as to list a potential quarter for the reboot, with Emma Stone, Linda Cardellini, Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy all getting the thumbs up from the former Dr. Peter Venkman.

Of course, the latter two actresses have been attached to the project ever since Bridesmaids helmer Paul Feig was reportedly offered a chance to direct. At this time, it’s understood that talks are in the early stages with neither party committing to anything just yet. Although, given that Ghostbusters 3 has flirted in and out of the limelight in recent years, reports suggest that this female-led revamp will start from scratch.

Tell us, would you like to see an all-female Ghostbusters reboot in lieu of the long-gestating Ghostbusters 3?
