MyTeam has always been a mode that came off as a distraction rather than a meaty mainstay for Visual Concept’s 2K series. Thankfully, the team is hoping to rectify that and have the MyTeam mode become a much more substantial experience in NBA 2K15.

One of the biggest additions to the card-based game mode is a real-time auction house. Don’t worry, this won’t be based on real-world money, but rather the MyTeam currency, one of the game’s two types of money (the other being Virtual Currency). The auction house is a way to get rid of duplicate cards by allowing you to put a player up for sale for a fixed amount of time. This could potentially be better than just selling a duplicate card back to the game, like we saw in last year’s installment.

Another tweak for NBA 2K15 comes in the form of Challenges. This is where the game will put you through various what-if scenarios. There will also be multiplayer challenges, weekly challenges, and user-created content. Another nice addition is the much-needed facelift to the menus, as 2K14‘s menus were absolutely sterile and had as much excitement as the white walls in a hospital.

NBA 2K15 comes out October 7th for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. Be sure to check out the tantalizing “What If?” trailer below and let us know what you think of it.
