Konami Reveals A Terrifying New Silent Hills Trailer At TGS 2014

Konami made this announcement in the form of a playable demo on the PlayStation 4 called P.T, or Playable Teaser. If you haven't played it yet I advise you go do so, because it is easily one of the most horrifying experiences you will ever have playing a game. Hell, that short 15 minute demo might be one of the scariest things on the planet, period.

It wasn’t too long ago that Konami revealed its plans to continue the Silent Hill franchise, shifting it under the helm of legendary video game director and creator of Metal Gear Solid, Hideo Kojima. The next entry will be titled Silent Hills, and for good measure the studio is also bringing along acclaimed horror film director Guillermo del Toro to conceptualize the freakish and often symbolic creatures that the franchise is known for.

There isn’t any combat, either, it’s just you in a first-person perspective sleuthing around a house that has had very bad things happen inside of it. The graphics are almost photorealistic, the atmosphere is unparalleled, and you can get possessed by a ghost. Getting possessed by a ghost may not sound like much, but trust me, you’ll want to throw your controller through the TV in fear of when she pops out of nowhere.

After solving the mystery of what went on in the house, players were treated to a secret trailer that revealed they were in fact playing a representation of what the next Silent Hill game will feel like. You also got a glimpse of Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead fame, as he is apparently who you will be playing as.

Fans of the survival horror genre or Silent Hill in general were left wanting more, and today at Tokyo Game Show, a brand-new trailer was presented. Similar to P.T, Silent Hills is controlled from a first-person perspective and seems to have a fascination with haunted houses. There are moving toys, lights flickering on and off with some insane lighting effects, cockroaches forming on the walls, and a giant hand chasing our protagonist at the end. Most importantly, it is going to trip you out and give you one hell of a nightmare.

We still have no idea what the game will actually be about, but on the Easter Egg front, at around the 32 second mark you can see that the door says “Angela’s class.” Whether or not it is a reference to Angela from Silent Hill 2 remains to be seen, but it is common knowledge that all of the Silent Hill games exist in the same universe.

You can watch the trailer for Silent Hills above, but I’m warning you, have an extra pair of pants on hand.
