James Franco And Seth Rogen Do It The American Way In NSFW Trailer For The Interview

We're three months away from the release of the Seth Rogen-James Franco comedy, The Interview, and the controversy surrounding its content continues to mount. Thankfully, it's all in the name of jocularity. However, quite a lot of the humour is already lost on North Korea. Specifically, Kim Jong-Un, who is characterised in the movie and subjected to some horrific Indiana Jones-style face melting.

Directed by Rogen and his long-time collaborator Evan Goldberg, The Interview is what Rogen himself termed “3 Days Of The Condor with idiots in it.” Franco stars as a tabloid journalist for hit TV show Skylark Tonight, who is sent along with his producer, Rogen, to visit North Korea. Why? Because they discover that the country’s leader, Kim Jong-un loves the show, and figure that landing an interview with such an infamous figure will add a touch of class to the show. The pair then meet Lizzy Caplan’s CIA Agent, who informs them they’ve got to assassinate him instead.

It’s a bonkers premise which isn’t unexpected from the crew behind This Is The End and Pineapple Express, two prime examples of otherwise terrifying situations (being hunted by drug dealers and cops, and the end of the world) being morphed into 90 minutes of foul-mouthed slapstick.

The latest red-band trailer for the flick starts off with a killer cameo before jumping into the crude, lewd humour and bad language that these two have mastered time and time again. Check it out below, along with the plot summary, and be sure to catch The Interview when it hits theatres on December 25th, 2014.

In the action-comedy The Interview, Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show “Skylark Tonight.” When they discover that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the two least-qualified men imaginable, to assassinate Kim Jong-un.
