Jason Rothenberg, the creator of the hit CW drama The 100, recently challenged fans via Twitter to show their support for the show. As a reward, they received an exclusive sneak peak of season two in the form of the first three minutes of the season premiere, and you won’t believe what’s in store.

When The 100 wrapped up its freshman season last spring, Clarke (Eliza Taylor) was one of several surviving members of the 100 taken hostage by the mysterious “mountain men,” and was being held at Mt. Weather. Season two picks back up with Clarke, still being kept in what looks like a sterile examination room, being monitored by some sort of closed-circuit feed. Besides watching Clarke ponder exactly what is going on, the most interesting thing about this minimally furnished room is the art – “The Starry Night” by Van Gogh hangs prominently on one wall.
Just prior to the one minute mark, Clarke decides that she’s had enough sitting around and decides to take action. She uses the pole attached to the I.V. drip to take out the camera and then smashes the circular glass window in the center of the door. She then reaches out, cutting her arm on the shards of remaining glass (obviously for dramatic effect), and simply unlocks her “cell.” If you’re thinking that her escape was almost too easy, you’re not alone.
From there, Clarke uses a piece of broken glass to take a girl, who appears to be around the same age, hostage. There’s nothing particularly remarkable about her, she just happens to be cleaning the room across the hall where Monty (Christopher Larkin) was being kept the last time we saw him. Clarke doesn’t really seem to have any more than a broad plan – find her friends and get out.
The clip leaves fans with the burning question, what’s going to happen next? Luckily, the wait is almost over, as The 100 returns to The CW on Wednesday, October 22 at 9/8 c. Will you be tuning in?
