Rapper, producer, and filmmaker RZA is set to bolster his acting credentials even further by joining Paco Cabezas’ romantic action-comedy, Mr. Right.

According to Deadline, RZA — real name Robert Fitzgerald Diggs — will star alongside Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick in the film, which follows a young woman (Kendrick) who falls head over heels for the seemingly perfect man. However, as the story unfolds, we learn that the titular Mr. Right just so happens to moonlight as a hitman — now that’s a gnarly skeleton to keep locked up in the closet.

Nonetheless, in terms of RZA’s role, it’s understood the celebrated rapper will step into the shoes of Shotgun Steve, a trained marksman who collaborates with an opposing gangster. At this stage, that’s all we have in terms of plot details, though Deadline reports that Max Landis — the scribe behind 2012’s excellent found footage superhero flick, Chronicle.

Mr. Right is by no means RZA’s first foray in front of the camera; in fact, the Wu-Tang rapper also appeared in G.I. Joe: Retaliation and alongside Paul Walker for Brick Mansions. The rapper-cum-filmmaker has also stepped behind the lens to direct 2012’s The Man With The Iron Fists — a martial arts film that he wrote in collaboration with Eli Roth.

Currently, details for Mr. Right are rather scare on the ground. Sam Rockwell has already established himself as a fantastic character actor that can also flirt with comedy (see Seven Psychopaths and Galaxy Quest), while Anna Kendrick is no stranger to comedies with a romantic heart.

It’s unclear how much RZA will impact the narrative itself, but with Landis on script duties and Rockwell and Kendrick on centerpoint, we’re willing to give Mr. Right the benefit of the doubt.
