Fox and Paramount have put the proverbial cards on the table and reshuffled several release dates for a variety of their upcoming films. Chief among them is Independence Day 2, with Fox pushing Roland Emmerich’s long-gestating follow-up off 2016’s Fourth of July weekend, meaning that the film will now open on June 24th.

This now pits the sequel up against Universal’s revamped take on The Mummy and, perhaps more importantly, ushers Independence Day 2 away from Tarzan, Spielberg’s The BFG and an as-yet-untitled Marvel film that is currently holding on to July 8th, 2016.

Sticking with Fox, it’s understood that the studio has postponed the Rupert Friend-led Hitman: Agent 47, with the video game adaptation now expected to hit theaters on August 28th, 2015 as opposed to its original February release.

In terms of Paramount, we’ve learned that Christopher B. Landon’s upcoming zom-com Scouts Vs. Zombies has been hit with an extensive delay, pushing the studio’s upcoming horror film from February all the way back to October. Mind you, releasing in and around Halloween is certainly more apt for a children-oriented film such as Scouts.

Rounding off this bout of date-related tidbits is news that The Transporter Legacy — Luc Besson’s reboot of sorts — has been pushed back by one week, meaning the fourth entry into the high-octane franchise will now release on March 6th, 2015.

Independence Day 2, Hitman and Scouts Vs. Zombies aren’t the only films to have their release dates recast, as yesterday brought news that Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon Levitt’s untitled Christmas comedy will now open on November 25th, 2015.
