Netflix’s Emmy-winning drama House of Cards is known for playing its cards (eh, get it?) rather close to its chest. Over the course of two excellent seasons, viewers were kept on tenterhooks in the build-up to each respective premiere as the production team kept story-related tidbits largely under wraps.
And, thankfully, that still remains the case by and large. Although, TV Line has learned today that the show has added Kim Dickens to its proverbial deck for season three. We understand that the actress will have a recurring role in the political drama, though it remains unclear as to what the role will be exactly.
Nevertheless, Dickens, who has previously appeared in other shows including Sons of Anarchy and Treme, can currently be seen as Detective Rhonda Boney in David Fincher’s Gone Girl. On House of Cards, she will join series regulars Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Michael Gill.
Given the closing events of House of Cards season two, it’ll be interesting to see how Dickens is implemented into Netflix’s well-oiled machine. Could the actress channel her authoritative role from Gone Girl and star as an investigator? Or will the show introduce her as member of the cabinet? Time will tell.
Much like the previous two stints on the streaming service, it’s expected that House of Cards season three will be back in and around February for a thirteen episode run. And we’ll have much more news for you in the build-up to its return.
House of Cards season three is due to launch through Netflix in the early stages of 2015, where Spacey’s Frank Underwood will likely become president of the Universe.
