Drive Composer Cliff Martinez Helmed Far Cry 4’s Score For Ubisoft

When Ubisoft went out to enlist talent for Far Cry 4's original score, money was obviously not an issue. Why do I say that? Well, they went to none other than Cliff Martinez, whom film geeks will recognize as the man behind the scores of both Spring Breakers and the Ryan Gosling-led Drive. Music fans, on the other hand, will think of him as a former Red Hot Chili Pepper before anything else.

After giving credit to the man behind it all, Ubisoft went on record today to let its fans know that the above-mentioned soundtrack will be available for purchase starting tomorrow. It’ll only be available digitally for now, but a limited run 2-CD set will hit North America and Europe in early December. Following that, a collectible 3LP version will be released sometime in January.

“Bringing Cliff on board was a no-brainer. Collaborating with him was a dream. He has the remarkable ability to portray compelling emotions and elevate the mundane into extraordinary with his musical talent,” said Tony Gronick. “Cliff delivered everything I hoped for. I’m so proud of the music in Far Cry 4 and am thankful for the opportunity to work with him.”

“It was an honour to be asked to write the music for the Far Cry 4 game as my first full-length video game soundtrack,” said Martinez. “It was exciting for me to be asked to take my usual minimalistic cinematic approach to the immersive game world. Any game where you can ride on a rampaging elephant is a project you can’t turn down!”

Far Cry 4, itself, will hit store shelves and online marketplaces on the 18th of this very month.
