UK Distributor Picks Up David O. Russell’s Nailed, Retitled Politics Of Love

For close to four years now, David O. Russell’s satirical comedy Nailed has simmered in development hell and for the longest time, it seemed as though the project would remain there indefinitely. Financial issues dragged the movie down like a hefty ball and chain — in fact, it’s understood production was shut down no less than 14 times — forcing Russell to walk away just as filming was to be wrapped up.

Now, though, England-based distributor Vantage Pictures has picked up Nailed, rebranded it as Politics of Love, and is committed to releasing it in the UK in the coming months. After all, what is now known as Politics of Love has quite the cast, including Jessica Biel, Jake Gyllenhaal and James Marsden, so it would’ve been a shame if the comedy didn’t see the light of day.

In summary, O. Russell’s long-gestating picture follows Biel’s small town waitress, who suffers a bizarre accident when she accidentally gets a nail stuck through her head just as her long-term boyfriend makes a move to propose. And so, she ventures to the capital and joins the movement for those who suffer from bizarre injuries.

Politics of Love is still a ways away from its UK release, but fans of O. Russell can take solace in the fact that the film is getting released at all.

Formerly known as Nailed (David O. Russell), Politics Of Love tells the story of a small town waitress (Biel), who accidentally gets a nail lodged in her head as her boyfriend (Marsden) attempts his marriage proposal. Her predicament leads her on a journey to Washington DC, where she meets a dashing but clueless congressman (Gyllenhaal), who might be able to help her unusual case.

Will their blossoming romance survive the cut-throat politics of the Capital? With an all-star cast that also includes Catherine Keener, Tracy Morgan, James Brolin and Paul Reubens, Politics Of Love is the funny story of what happens when sparks fly and love interferes with what you stand for.
