For the unfortunate few that have encountered issues with Far Cry 4 on PlayStation 3, Ubisoft has advised to delete the game from the HDD and reinstall it in order to prevent any data corrupting in future.

News comes by way of the publisher’s live blog, which went live a couple of days ago to give users real-time updates on the progress of fixes as they rolled out. In terms of the PS3 bug, Ubisoft pinpointed the issue shortly after the open-world sequel launched, and it appears to be affecting those who have downloaded the game digitally.

We want to assure you that we have kept a close eye on the “delete FC3 game data issue” experienced by some PS3 players who downloaded the game digitally. We have identified a solution, and a new version is now available for download.

If you are an affected player, you must completely delete the existing version of the game and then go to the store and re-download the correct version of the game.

PlayStation 3 isn’t the only platform that has run into problems, though as PC owners have reported game-breaking bugs such as black screens, which appear to inadvertently materialize if you have a USB device plugged in. In response to this, Ubisoft has confirmed that an update — patch 1.4.0, specifically — will go live in the coming days and will also introduce additional fixes for some other known issues.

Despite this turbulent launch, Far Cry 4 released earlier this week to critically acclaim, with critics praising the open-world mechanics and exhilarating sense of freedom. Stay tuned to We Got This Covered over the weekend when we’ll have our own verdict of Ubisoft’s Himalayan adventure for you to enjoy.
