New Super 8 Clip

June 10th is right around the corner and the mystery of Super 8 is still very much alive. They have slowly started to release some clips to the public, but they made sure not to give away any surprises. SlashFilm has provided us with a new 35 second clip that really displays the great special effects. The clip starts off midway into a train being destroyed, which I am assuming is due to a truck being in the middle of the road, unless they managed to cut the trailer from a different train wreck, but that seems unlikely.

June 10th is right around the corner and the mystery of Super 8 is still very much alive. They have slowly started to release some clips to the public, but they made sure not to give away any surprises. Today we get a new 35 second clip that really displays the great special effects. The clip starts off midway into a train being destroyed, which I am assuming is due to a truck being in the middle of the road, unless they managed to cut the trailer from a different train wreck, but that seems unlikely.

Even though the clip doesn’t show off much I really do like it because it gives you that sense of adventure. The camera work is very steady and the effects are top notch. The clip leaves me wanting much more and I don’t know if I can wait any longer! Let’s hope director J.J. Abrams can deliver the goods once more. I have faith in him, but I am a little worried because a lot of the footage reminds me too much of a Spielberg film.

Yes, this is produced by Spielberg, but I feel that Abrams already has his own unique way of directing and my biggest fear for Super 8 is that it might come off as a straight up tribute film to Spielberg, which isn’t a bad thing, but it really wouldn’t be anything ground breaking or fresh. Hopefully Abrams balances his ideas with Spielberg’s and doesn’t end up crossing over too much into Spielberg territory.

Super 8 stars Elle Fanning, Amanda Michalka and Kyle Chandler and it will be released on June 10th, 2011. Check out the clip below:

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
