According to a report by the Daily Mail, it appears as though Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are set to assemble once more as Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is scheduled to have two weeks of “kick-ass” reshoots in January.

Filming on the upcoming sequel had all but wrapped up, though the tabloid suggests that these new scenes will add “a bit more kick-ass on an extravagant scale.” It’s impossible to know what exactly those extra scenes will contain at this stage, though our guess is that Whedon and Co. have made plans to either further align Age of Ultron with the larger MCU or, on the other hand, beef up one character’s role in particular.

As a matter of fact, the latter scenario does appear more likely given that Tom Hiddleston — who plays fan favorite villain Loki — has been asked to make himself available come January. Interestingly, this corresponds with Idris Elba’s recent comments about the role of Asgard in the superhero sequel and beyond, after the actor let slip that he would indeed be reprising his role as Heimdall in Age of Ultron alongside Hiddleston’s devious step-brother. If this proves to be true, Marvel’s plan of attack can be surmised as so: if in doubt, add more Loki.

Avengers: Age of Ultron will arrive in theaters on May 1, 2015. We’ll keep you updated on the status of the sequel as more news appears but for now, let us know what you think these reshoots could signal in the comments below.

Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.
