After being a timed Nintendo exclusive (on consoles/handhelds, at least), Yacht Club Games’ Shovel Knight is heading to all three of Sony’s platforms. For the uninitiated, Shovel Knight is an 8-bit platformer that pays homage to the games of yesteryear. In particular, titles like Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda – two games that have since become industry icons.

When it released back in late June, the indie darling garnered critical acclaim, and has gone on to sell approximately 300,000 (digital) copies. As such, it’ll be interesting to see how much it will flourish on Sony’s PS3, PS4 and PS Vita.

As of right now, it’s unknown as to whether or not Shovel Knight will be a Cross-Buy title when it hits the PlayStation Network, though it seems to lend itself perfectly to the program. In fact, it’ll be a shocking surprise if all three PlayStation versions aren’t sold as a package deal.

While we wait for more information, make sure to check out Shovel Knight‘s latest, Sony-infused teaser, which features a glimpse at a special guest boss.
