Atlus has announced that they will be bringing Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker to North America in early 2015. The Nintendo 3DS exclusive is already set to launch in January 2015 in Japan.
An enhanced remake of the original Devil Survivor 2, Record Breaker will feature several new additions. Full English localization will be provided, as well as an additional chapter to the title’s campaign. This bonus chapter is said to be as lengthy as a full RPG, and focuses on a new demon invasion following the conclusion of the base game.
For those unaware of the original Nintendo DS release, Devil Survivor 2 is a cross between traditional and tactical-RPG gameplay. Set throughout Japan, players will be in control of a group of high school students who can summon demons to do battle with other demons. So basically, just another day in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Originally announced back in 2013, Record Breaker has had a rather rough development cycle. The remake was supposed to hit Japan in late 2013, but was delayed due to quality issues. There must have been some serious quality issues here, as it’s rare to see an Atlus RPG completely miss its release date, especially by over a year.
