Update: Star Henry Cavill has confirmed to Variety that the rumor of splitting Dawn of Justice into two films is false.
We can likely lay blame for this latest Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice rumour at the feet of an overachieving DC fan with a penchant for Photoshop skills that land in the ‘gritty, blurry realism’ column. OR, could this outrageous suggestion be truth hidden in plain sight? We’re hoping for the latter, because that means we’re getting the first part of the movie, Batman V Superman: Enter The Knight on October 23rd… this year.
Earlier this morning, a blurry shot appeared on Imgur that depicts a hasty image apparently taken from the film’s teaser trailer. The first preview is thought to debut in front of The Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending next month, but ahead of that, one eager fan has already seen it and bootlegged it along with the caption: “I have an iPhone video of the teaser trailer (it has updated since, but close with most things), and no, I will never distribute it, but I will offer this screen shot.”
Warner Bros. has yet to comment on the image, but most talk online has concluded that in all likelihood it’s a fake. The prospect of a two-part BvS outing, beginning with Enter The Knight (a dang cool title in itself), is enticing because we’ve a lengthy wait until Dawn Of Justice. Upon closer inspection though, the formatting of the date on the image suggests this is either a fan-made graphic, or it stems from another country.
The US usually opts for month/date/year, not year/month/date. Yes, it might appear unusual, but this could simply be a matter of this particular snap originating from an international teaser. Beneath the text, a website URL adds further mystery. If it indeed says batmanvsupermandawnofjustice.com then that points towards the official site, and if it doesn’t include the v, then that sends users to a fan site.
Until WB decides to weigh in, let the speculation commence!
Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice will arrive in theaters on March 25th, 2016.
