Telltale Games, arguably one of the busiest studios in the industry of late, has announced that Kevin Bruner has been appointed as CEO of the company, moving up from his former position as co-founder.
This news means that Bruner has replaced Dan Connors at the head of the company, who has transitioned into the role of an executive advisor. In tandem with these managerial changes, the newly-appointed CEO revealed that Telltale is also working on an all-new IP.
“We’re already working on some of the biggest franchises in entertainment, and when you add our unannounced partnerships and upcoming original IP, it’s clear the most exciting time to be at Telltale is now, and there will continue to be more and more opportunity to innovate ahead of us,” Bruner said.
News that a new property is in development may come as some surprise; after all, this is the studio that is currently spinning The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Tales From The Borderlands, Game of Thrones and, more recently, Minecraft: Story Edition simultaneously. With that in mind, would a new IP that adheres to the well-established, narrative-driven formula that has helped spear Telltale into the limelight be a bridge too far? Time will tell.
Mind you, given the innate quality found in the maiden episodes of both Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones, it’s safe to say that Telltale Games has more than earned the benefit of the doubt.
