Watch Previously Unseen Alternate Ending And Deleted Scenes From Evil Dead Remake

When Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead remake hit theaters in 2013, many fans of the cult horror franchise noticed several omissions hinted at in the film's trailers. The use of footage in a preview that later lands on the cutting room floor is, of course, nothing new in the movie industry. With teaser trailers landing sometimes up to 18 months prior to a theatrical release, it's no wonder the final cut can often feature new - and exclude old - footage.

On that note, thanks to an eagle-eyed Dead fan in the U.K. (via Bloody Disgusting), a handful of alternate and deleted scenes never-before-seen in the US have landed online. This unseen footage was captured during the film’s recent U.K. television premiere on Channel 4. Transforming the gory hit into an extended edition of the normal version, it boasts some brilliant clips that have yet to make it onto an official home video release.

We’d recommend checking out the above video as soon as possible; one alternate posting has already been taken down at the behest of the studio. Included in the clip are four separate sequences, one of which is an alternate ending where a one-armed Mia (Jane Levy) manages to reach a roadside to ask passing motorists for help. The remaining three segments are all small clips that were presumably excised from the theatrical release for brevity.

Interestingly enough, Alvarez himself confirmed in an interview in 2013 that the movie in cinemas was his director’s cut. Meaning, he’d had the final say and decided the shorter cut was his perfect vision. That’s not to say that diehard fans wouldn’t wish to see additional scenes; even if they appear as special features on a Blu-ray. However, this is the first we’ve heard of the longer cut reaching the public, which begs the question: will Evil Dead‘s extended version be made available to purchase? We’ll keep you posted when we know more.
