Star of The Matrix trilogy, Carrie-Anne Moss, has joined the cast of Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series, A.K.A. Jessica Jones. Her addition to the expanding crew of supporting characters is the third in as many weeks. A sign that Marvel and Netflix are gearing up to enter production, no doubt.

The show, a joint production between the comic book giant and the streaming giant, revolves around the titular Jessica, played by the previously-cast Krysten Ritter. At one time a fully-fledged superhero, Jessica decides to step out of the limelight and open up a detective agency in New York City. Her clients? People who exhibit “extraordinary abilities,” i.e. other superheroes.

According to Marvel, who announced the news today, Moss “plays a no-nonsense woman who could prove a powerful ally to Jessica…if Jessica doesn’t completely alienate her first.” This authoritative figure is the exact type of character Moss is so well-honed to play, and it’ll be a blast watching her tackle the part on the small screen.

“Throughout her career, Carrie-Anne has embodied a wide range of characters in a compelling and relatable way and I have no doubt she will bring that talent to A.K.A. Jessica Jones,” said Jones showrunner, Melissa Rosenberg.

On the supporting role front, Moss will be joining a range of well-respected actors who are set to either aid or destroy Jessica. Amongst those are Charlie’s Angels‘ Rachael Taylor as Jessica’s best friend Trish “Hellcat” Walker, Doctor Who alum David Tennant as the villainous Kilgrave and The Good Wife‘s Mike Colter as Luke Cage.

Expected to land later this year, A.K.A. Jessica Jones is the second of five Marvel-Netflix shows in the pipeline. First up is the Charlie Cox-starrer, Daredevil, then later we’ll see Luke Cage and Iron Fist land before the leads unite for team-up show, The Defenders.
