According to EA’s statement to GamesOnNet, it looks to be that the studio’s upcoming Heat-esque shooter Battlefield: Hardline will “[play] at 60 FPS using the same resolution settings as [Battlefield 4].”

While developer Visceral Games hasn’t officially confirmed the graphical threshold at the time of going to press, an in-depth report by Digital Foundry discovered that the game’s currently ongoing beta is locked at 900p and 720p on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively. Of course, it’s common practice for a studio to push for stability during a title’s testing period, but the fact that Visceral is yet to announce anything lends credence to this report.

Moreover, all it takes is one glance at Reddit to discover similar complaints, with many ardent fans of the franchise questioning whether or not Hardline is a true evolution of Battlefield 4. That said, given the high-octane nature of Visceral’s title and the series’ commitment to 60 frames-per-second, it could well be the case that the developing team has opted for a stable online experience over a minute visual discrepancy.

In related news, during the course of the beta test users have unearthed several in-game items, including the Shark Patches, that suggest EA is prepping to unveil a Premium service for Hardline in the vein of Battlefield 3 and 4. Much like a season pass, the bonus pack gives users instant access to future DLC and considering the success of the service of the past, it should come as no surprise if the publisher unveils Premium in the coming days.

For those of you eager to test out Visceral Games’ cops vs. robbers shooter, Hardline‘s open beta is currently live as of yesterday morning, and it’s due to run throughout the weekend until February 8. For more on the title, you can check out the recently-released PC specs.
