Telltale Games’ New IP Considered The “Most Ambitious” Project The Studio Has Produced

Though Telltale Games is often slated for moulding its narrative-driven template around all of its games, CEO Kevin Bruner believes that the studio's upcoming new IP is the "most ambitious" project the creative team has ever produced.

Though Telltale Games is often slated for moulding its narrative-driven template around all of its games, newly-appointed CEO Kevin Bruner believes that the studio’s upcoming new IP is the “most ambitious” project the creative team has ever produced.

In an interview with GamesIndustry, the executive touched upon the art of storytelling in games, and how the company will look to take the “story first” mantra one step further within its as-yet-unknown new title.

“I’ll say we’ve spent a lot of time experimenting over the last decade with how powerful a storytelling tool interactive can be and when we thought about building something from the ground up that gave us absolutely everything we could dream of as storytelling tools. The right kind of story, the right kind of setting, the right kind of people involved, everything.”

When asked about Telltale’s nascent new IP, Bruner revealed that “it’s probably the most ambitious thing the company has ever done but we feel like we’re ready for it. We’re very excited to talk about it, but we can’t say much more right now. But it is the perfect thing for us.”

Since the groundbreaking success of The Walking Dead, Telltale Games’ rise has been nothing sure of meteoric. Granted, this is a company that has been working in the industry for over a decade, but having acquired the rights to work on narrative-driven experiences set within the worlds of The Wolf Among Us, Gearbox’s Borderlands, Game of Thrones and more recently, Minecraft, Telltale has become the go-to development for licensed products.

We’ll have much more information pertaining to this nebulous new project over the coming months, but in the meantime, let us know whether you’d like to see Telltale Games deviate from the studio’s established, critically-adorned formula in the comments.
