Keeping in line with his profession, the film quaintly expands on the mantra ‘walking in someone else’s shoes.’ As a shoe repair man whose business has been in the family for generations, when Simkin stumbles across a magical item, he finds himself able to slip on another person’s shoes and actually become them. What’s not explained through this fantasy plotting, is what actually happens to the real person who owns the shoes. Sandler isn’t really becoming them is he? He’s just himself – in their bodies, right?

Regardless of the details, the second trailer delves into a few elements missed in the original preview. Still making a living by playing one of two characters (dumb or a cumurdgeon), Sandler seems to deliver his standard performance. The most appealing factor of McCarthy’s film, however, is the expansive supporting cast that includes Ellen Barkin, Melonie Diaz, Dan Stevens, Fritz Weaver, Yul Vazquez, Steve Buscemi, and Dustin Hoffman. Not bad, eh?

The Cobbler will receive a limited U.S. release on March 13th.

Following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, Max (Adam Sandler) runs a charming if rundown shoe repair shop on the Lower East Side of New York City. Happy being his own boss, Max nonetheless feels mired in his daily routine and yearns for something (or perhaps someone) he can’t name. One day, in the shop’s dusty basement, he stumbles across a forgotten family heirloom with magical powers that allow him to literally step into the lives of his customers.

Energized by the private thrill of slipping on different footwear and becoming transformed into its owner, Max soon recognizes that he has the power to mend more than shoes. But it’s another pair of shoes — and their nefarious owner — that steer Max into a life-and-death situation that he may not be able to walk away from.
