The early cancellation of Covert Affairs has found the show’s leading lady, Piper Perabo, on the hunt for new projects. Thankfully, that hunt is now over, as the actress has signed on to co-star opposite Bruce Willis in director John Pogue’s upcoming thriller, Wake.

From screenwriter Chris Borrelli, Wake revolves around the Forrester family. When they reunite back at the family’s island homestead for a relative’s wake, they are unnerved by the arrival of the dead man’s brother, Red (Willis), who’s a diagnosed sociopath that made their lives a living hell until his disappearance years later. The tides change, however, when the family comes under attack from deadly associates of the deceased. Naturally, they’re glad to have Red and his bullish, sociopathic tendencies to protect them.

The Coyote Ugly actress will play Claire Forrester, the dead man’s widow who previously had a fling with Willis’ bad guy sibling. That’s a surefire way to complicate a family event, never mind a funeral. Also set to appear in as-yet unknown roles are Ben Kingsley, Cameron Monaghan, Brendan Bradley and Ellen Burstyn.

Wake is currently shooting in Ohio, with a release date expected later this year. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
