Talking To The Cast Of The Duff At The NYC Premiere

Hitting theatres today is The DUFF, a new teen comedy starring Mae Whitman and Robbie Amell. Based on the novel of the same name by Kody Keplinger, the film centers on Bianca - who has been branded the Designated Ugly Fat Friend (DUFF) - and “dumb jock” Wesley, who decides to help her shed that label. Rising above a formulaic structure, The DUFF tackles themes like self-acceptance and rising above negativity and ends up being a pretty enjoyable film.

Earlier this week, we stopped by the red carpet premiere, which took place in New York City. While there, we caught up with both Whitman and Amell and spoke to them about their roles, the message that The DUFF is trying to send and why it will resonate, Mae’s own experiences with bullying as a child and more.

Check it all out in the video above and be sure to catch The DUFF as it’s now in theatres.
