GRRRR..
D T the writer/director just landed in New York with the good news. We can start filming this summer. However, there is a catch… in order for us to make a true R rated film, I must work for scale upfront. Not unlike the “Find me Guilty” experience (which I wouldn’t have changed for the world)…
Money is always second to art,…integrity and spirit… but the real issue is deeper. Can I suspend my life, to momentarily venture to that dark place… called Riddick.
Now, I need to hear from Our collective… you.
Wisdom and clarity appreciated.
Back to Riddick, writer-director David Twohy, who originated the Riddick character in Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, has a script ready to film this summer; as Diesel mentioned in his Facebook rant. The premise of Riddick will have Diesel’s anti-hero stranded on a desolate planet where he fights aliens and grows more powerful than ever. When bounty hunters arrive to pick Riddick’s bones they end up walking into an elaborate and violent revenge trap.
It comes as little surprise that Universal is being tight with the purse strings on this sequel; Chronicles of Riddick only made a $10 million profit on a budget of $105 million, according to numbers from Box Office Mojo. Do you think there’s enough of an audience to make it worth it for Universal to put the film into production?
