Johnny Cage Set To Make Triumphant Return For Mortal Kombat X

Over the past few months, NetherRealm Studios has been tactful in its unveiling of the full character roster for Mortal Kombat X. Rather than unveil the entire line-up, the company has stuck to Nintendo's approach with Smash Bros., gradually peeling back the selection one layer at a time. But it seems as though Adam Urbano, senior producer for the upcoming brawler, has let slip that fan favorite Johnny Cage will indeed make a return for MKX.

Over the past few months, NetherRealm Studios has been tactful in its unveiling of the full character roster for Mortal Kombat X. Rather than unveil the entire line-up, the company has stuck to Nintendo’s approach with Smash Bros., gradually peeling back the selection one layer at a time. But it seems as though Adam Urbano, senior producer for the upcoming brawler, has let slip that fan favorite Johnny Cage will indeed make a return for MKX.

News first came to light through an interview with Game Crate, though the footage has since been pulled from YouTube. No matter, IGN managed to document Urbano’s quote before it was lost in cyberspace, where the producer revealed that Cage will be introduced alongside his daughter, Cassie, in the final build.

“You’ll get to play as Johnny Cage, but we’re also showing Cassie Cage, who is the daughter of Sonya and Johnny,” Urbano said. “You’ll get a chance to see Kenshi and a chance to see a couple more.” In response to which brutality is his favorite, Urbano said, “Actually Johnny’s. It’s quick and it’s brutal.”

Granted, this remains unconfirmed at this time by either NetherRealm or publisher Warner Bros., but given the validity of Urbano’s comments, it’s safe to assume that all bets are off on whether Cage will make an appearance in the brutal brawler come April.

Mortal Kombat X arrives on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on April 14, 2015 when NetherRealm Studios will also begin roll out the mobile companion app that will be available to download across iOS and Android.
